Bark in the Park May 14th

What a great night! Thanks so much to Sarah and Luna, Faith and Dixie, Deb and Dollar, and surprise attendees - Paula and Candi. (We're so glad you came!) We had an awesome table position - out of the rain when it came and out of the sun when it came. And directly in the line of traffic. I do have to say that Faith was the best "salesperson" for us. Luna and Danni Lee played "tag team" on anyone that wanted to visit dogs(i.e.Luna drew them in, Danni Lee was jealous, and vice versa). Then Faith closed the deal!

Luna had a BLAST in the doggy baby pools... Candi, Danni Lee, and Dollar took advantage of the photo op table... Danni Lee and I entered the "best kisser" contest... and LOST. I don't think they appreciated the fact that she kisses on command... but whatever! It really was a fun night and I encourage you all to go to the next one on June 9 (Contact Liz & Mister for details).

Cheers!

Billy & Jack Become a NACCR Level 2 team!

Congratulations to Billy and Jack:

As you all have heard in the past couple of weeks, Billy and Jack and Pat and Monk attended the NAACR workshop. They both completed the workshop but you don't know if you pass until they call you.

We are proud to announce that our very own very new LOAL team of Billy Fryer and Jack not only completed and pass the evaluation they jumped level 2.  This is a HUGE feat, most teams that do pass go straight to a Level 3 where you can do the work but within your state. Billy and Jack can actually be deployed to any National Disaster in the US.

The Level 2 Certification allows Jack and Billy to be deployed to any national disaster in the US, they however are required to be deployed with a Level 1 team. To receive a Level 1 Certification they must successfully complete a National Disaster deployment and follow up with additional on-line training.

Thank you all for your support in this; if it weren’t for their participation in our local LOAL therapy club they would not have been able to do this.

To read on previous years of NAACR, read the article in the State-Journal.

Saint Joseph Advertises LOAL Visits

Pat saw this wonderful table display informing Saint Joseph’s patients and families to look for LOAL.  The flyer reads:

We are honored to have weekly visits to our outpatient medical oncology, radiation oncology and Resource Services from Central KY Love on a Leash.  These certified therapy dogs and their handlers have the mission
to, “Generate smiles and memories and provide comfort to those in need.”

Pictures on the flyer is Mister and Monk.

Central Baptist Hospital's Nurse's Day

LOAL brought the dogs to a Nurses Day celebration at Central Baptist Hospital.  The purpose of this celebration was to show appreciation to the nurses for all of the wonderful work they do.

The celebration was from 6:00 am - 9:00 am yesterday morning.  We want to give a big thanks to our teams who came out, especially at such an early time.  The teams in attendance were:
Elizabeth and Barbara with Dugan (who everyone knows)
Liz with Mister (his usual please pay attention to me self)
Deb with Dollar (please love on me)

The teams were busy the whole time.  Each nurse would come by and take time to love on each dog. Karen, VP of Nursing who Pat has known for years, came to her at the end and said that the nurses were all very pleased with the whole program but many said the dogs were the best part!!
